Comprehensive Exams & Fittings
Our contact lens exam and fitting process helps our team match you with contacts right for you and your needs.
Eye exams can help us determine if your eyes can safely wear contact lenses, while fittings help determine which type of lens may suit your eyes best. However, some issues may affect your candidacy for contact lenses, like:
- Having dry eyes
- Having frequent eye infections
- Living in smokey, dry, dusty environments
In some cases, we can recommend specialty lenses to help address specific problems like corneal conditions, myopia, dry eye, and more. If you already have contacts, please bring them with you when you come in for your appointment.
Lenses for a Variety of Needs
Determining which type of contact lens to recommend is a detailed process that considers your eye’s health as well as the shape and size of your cornea. Some of the technology we may use to fit your contacts include anterior segment OCT scans and corneal topography.
You can always expect your experience to be relaxing, comprehensive, and comfortable. If you have any questions or concerns regarding contact lenses, don’t hesitate to speak to our team before or during your appointment.
Soft Contact Lenses
Soft contact lenses are among the most common contacts. Because of their soft hydrogel materials and range of options to accommodate single-day wearers and long-term wearers, soft contacts can help address refractive errors while remaining comfortable to wear.
Rigid Gas-Permeable Lenses
Rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses are a common lens type we may recommend if you’re looking for easy-to-handle contact lenses.
RGP lenses are a popular choice because of their ease of use, durability, and crisp visual quality. They’re made of special plastic materials that allow oxygen to pass through and reach your cornea. However, they may take longer to adjust to than other types of contact lenses.
Multifocal Lenses
Multifocal contacts are designed with multiple prescriptions to help correct vision problems at various distances. Doctors often prescribe multifocals to help correct presbyopia, but recent studies have discovered that these lenses can also slow down myopia development in children.

Scleral Lenses
Scleral lenses are becoming popular for addressing various eye conditions, most notably keratoconus and dry eye.
These lenses have a larger diameter than traditional contacts, which allows them to rest on the sclera of your eyes and vault over your cornea. A tear reservoir forms between your cornea and the lens, which can provide relief from corneal issues and dry eye.
Hybrid Lenses
Hybrid lenses combine the benefits of RGP and soft contact lenses to provide crisper, more comfortable vision.
The center of the lens uses RGP materials to correct your vision, while a soft hydrogel skirt provides soothing comfort.
